complacency without compliance
complacency: (noun)
- A feeling of contented self-satisfaction, especially when unaware of upcoming trouble.
- An instance of self-satisfaction
compliance: (noun)
- An act of complying.
- The state of being compliant.
- The tendency of conforming with or agreeing to the wishes of others.
Some time ago I agreed with one of my friends (to whom i would highly recommend this, this, this, this and this), that if we ever write a book, its title will be: "complacency without compliance". To some interesting turn of events it seems that this book will not be written anytime soon, against the great cooperation and understanding we have with each other. However just recently I came across a great blog: "zen habits", and two posts there (1, Be open to what emerges & 2, Traveling lightly through life), which both had the same inspirational sentence from Lao Tzu as a start:
'A good traveler has no fixed plans, and is not intent on arriving.'
I believe that summarizes the essence of our book-to-be as well, so there is clearly no need to write it :)
Merry X-mas and Happy New Year to All!

ReplyDeleteBUEK!
Több oka is van ennek a címnek.
ReplyDeleteMárciusban elárulhatom őket...
addig titok.

And the original version...
ReplyDeleteI like this pretty much. And yes, the travelling is more important than the place to arrive. However my thoughts then were more arround this doubtfull pursuite of excellence and perfectionism and the option of feeling good in a just a regular world.
So, don't give up! (esspecially now) And you'd better start thinking and writing in order to grasp the moment.
